Pregnant when she left her abusive husband, Moira MacTaggert moved to her
Mutant Research Centre on Muir Island, keeping her son Kevin a secret from
her former husband Joseph. When Kevin's mutation emerged, his abilities gave him an uncontrollable hunger for energy. To prevent Kevin from being a danger to himself and others, Moira confined him in a cell which sustained him with the energy he craved. After a battle between Magneto and the X-Men, the containment cell was damaged and Kevin escaped, but his powers began to consume his body, making it necessary for him to inhabit the bodies of others, taking on other forms as the energy siphon Proteus. |
