| Origin | |
| The
son of Russian aristocrats fleeing Soviet revolutionaries, the young
Sergei Kravinoff was soon orphaned and had to resort to his wits and
cunning for survival. Traveling the world as a stowaway aboard cargo
ships and trains, he traveled the world until setting in Africa as a safari
guide, changing his name to Kraven. Stalking the deadliest animals on the planet, Kraven desired new challenges to regain the honor he felt was denied him as part of his heritage. During his time in Africa he gained the trust of a witch doctor in the Congo, who concocted an herbal potion that enhanced his physical prowess and senses, to better serve his quest as Kraven the Hunter. After repeated defeats in his hunt for Spider-Man, Kravinoff slipped further into madness and eventually took his life after a last hunt. Perplexed by his father's obsession with Spider-Man, Alyosha Kravinoff used his hunting skills and striking resemblance to his father to impersonate him as resurrected from the dead. Eventually the junior Kravinoff realized the folly of the obsession that eventually killed his father and decided to walk a more balanced path as Kraven the Hunter. |
