Origin
Teleported to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton by his father Jor-El, the infant Kal-El was found by Jerry and Naomi Kent.  Naming the child after Naomi's maiden name, the Kents called the infant boy Clark.  In this Earth's reality the character Superman and his fellow heroes were works of fiction found in comic books.  Because he shared the name of a fictional comics character the young Clark Kent was often teased by fellow students.

Growing up apparently human with no knowledge of his alien heritage, it was not until the passing of Halley's Comet that the teenaged Kent's powers were activated giving him the power of Superboy.

During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Earth-Prime and its universe was destroyed by the Anti-Monitor.  The sole survivor of Earth-Prime, Superboy joined the heroes of Earth-1 and Earth-2 to battle against the Anti-Monitor.  In the conclusion of the crisis many of the realities of the Multiverse merged into one universe, Superboy went into exile along with the Superman and Lois Lane of Earth-2 and the Lex Luthor of Earth-3.

During his time in exile, Superboy grew bitter; encouraged by the machinations of Earth-3's Lex Luthor.  Luthor's plan was to recreate a new Multiverse and once again create a home for himself and his allies.  When the heroes of Earth attempted to stop Superboy he became homicidal, and his rampage was only halted with the intervention of the Green Lantern Corps.

Liberated by the Sinestro Corps from his incarceration under the authority of Guardians of the Universe, Superboy was equipped with armor which fed his body yellow solar radiation giving him even more powers as Superman-Prime.
