| Origin | |
| On
the planet Durla there is a constant cultural struggle between secular and
religious government. Before the formation of the United Planets the
secularist of Durla created a program to produce living weapons through
mutation capable of not only mimicking the appearance but function of any
species. Losing their grip on power the secularist program was deemed sinful by the theocratic government and the test subjects were imprisoned in crystals, denying them their ability. Requiring regular maintenance to keep the living weapons in control, one of the crystals was damaged and the unnamed mutant broke free killing the entire priest class of Durla. His quest for revenge unquenched, the living weapon went in search of Durlan priest and Legionnaire, Reep Daggle (Chameleon). When battling the Legion of Super-Heroes the living weapon not only imitated the Legionnaire's abilities but also their respective appearances, leading to him being named the Composite Man. |
