Origin

Reputed to be an exceptionally meticulous assassin, the man known as Cain was a former mentor to the young Bruce Wayne, who would later use the skills he learned to fight crime as the Batman.

Cain planned for his succession by training a number of young children in the arts of violence. His premiere pupil he named Cassandra and focused her training in violence to the point where it was her only form of communication, rendering her verbally mute.

Cassandra defected to the side of law and order, joining the Batman as his protégé Batgirl. Vowing revenge for the loss of his disciple, Batman gained a formidable enemy in the assassin known as Cain.
