Special Properties

Note: The imprisonment within the Central Power Battery of Parallax - a yellow being composed of pure fear - created an impurity making Green Lantern Rings incapable of manipulating objects colored yellow, and the champions of the Guardians of the Universe, the Green Lanterns, susceptible to the only thing that could break their will - fear.

With few exceptions the Power Ring is limited to a 24 hour charge and must be recharged in the Power Battery on a daily basis.

Origin

After failing with the android Psion and Manhunter projects, the Guardians of the Universe decided to use living agents as their intermediaries, to challenge the forces of evil and injustice in the universe.

Three billion years ago they formed the Halla, a group of galactic police using stun pistols and power batteries similar to the devices used by the android Manhunters. The Halla were the immediate predecessors of the Green Lantern Corps.

Forming a new corps of galactic law enforcement agents, the Guardians created a Central Power Battery which they charged with their own mental energies to focus the willpower of all sentient beings. This central depository of power in turn charges smaller individual Power Batteries in the shape of luminous lanterns that are used to recharge the most powerful weapons for justice in the universe, the Green Lantern Ring.
