A group of villains called the Sinister Six was brought together by Dr. Octopus to destroy their mutual enemy Spider-Man.

The group was defeated but reformed to strike at the web-slinger multiple times, even once with seven members.

Some of the member allied with one-time Sinister Six member the Beetle I under the name Sinister Syndicate, but always met with defeat at their own hands or that of Spider-Man.
