T. Horton, a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence, created a
prototype synthesoid capable of mimicking all the functions of a human
being, including independent thought. The only flaw in Dr. Horton's
design was that the power supply of photoelectric solar cells covering the
android's body were too volatile and caused the epidermis to burst into
flame upon contact with air. His later model would become the hero
known as the original
Human
Torch. Horton's prototype was stored away
until reactivated by the robotic menace
Ultron and programmed with the brainwave patterns of the Simon Williams
(Wonder Man) as a foil to draw the
Avengers
into a deathtrap.
Overcoming his master's control,
the synthesoid would rebel and come to the assistance of his intended foes.
A mainstay of the Avengers, he
adopted a name that was uttered by the
Wasp
when she first saw him, dubbing himself the Vision. |
