Origin
The daughter of a wealthy American diamond miner, Shanna O'Hara was born and raised in the African jungle.

After her mother was accidentally shot and killed by her father while protecting his livestock from their marauding pet leopard, the traumatized girl was sent to the United States to live with relatives.  She developed a lifelong hatred for all firearms.

Majoring in biology and earning a doctorate in veterinary science, Shanna was hired by the Central Park Zoo where she was able to walk among the most ferocious of big cats unharmed.  After an enraged sniper killed most of the zoo's big cats, O'Hara was tending to the sole surviving adult, a severally injured female leopard.  A panicked guard fearing for the veterinarian's safety shot and killed the cat.

Resigning her position at the Zoo for one at an African reserve Shanna was given care of the leopard's cubs.  Fashioning clothes from the mother leopard's pelt to create a scent bond, she realized how much she shared in common with the wild creatures.

Developing her jungle and athletic skills, hot tempered and sporting a mane of red hair, she was dubbed by the local inhabitants, Shanna the She-Devil.
