Drake discovered his mutant ability during his early teens, but kept it
secret from everyone except his parents. When bullies attacked Drake and his
girlfriend, the mutant temporarily encased one of the young thugs in ice.
Believing Drake a menace, the townspeople formed a lynch mob. Drake was
taken into custody by the local sheriff for his own protection.
Professor Charles Xavier sent
Cyclops to free Drake from his cell. Caught by the lynch mob
Professor X was forced to use his mental powers to stop the townspeople
erasing their memories of Drake's abilities. Grateful, Drake
accepted Xavier's invitation to join the X-Men as Iceman. |
