| Origin | |
| During the interstellar Kree-Skrull War, the Kree Captain Mar-Vell became romantically involved with the Skrull Princess Anelle. When Anelle bore a child, the Skrull Emperor ordered the infant's death, but the young prince was stolen away to Earth by his nurse and raised as human. Changing his name from Dorrek VIII to Teddy Altman, the boy believed himself to be a mutant when he discovered his shape-shifting powers. Recruited by the time traveling Iron Lad, Altman assumed an identity which paid homage to his Hulk-like green-skinned strength and changeling abilities calling himself the Hulkling. | |
