Origin

Genis-Vell is the product of the Kree Warrior Mar-Vell (Captain Marvel I) and the Titan, Elysius. When Mar-Vell died from cancer, Elysius used his genetic code to conceive a child. Fearing for his safety from his father's enemies she hid him away on a remote planet and artificially aged him to adulthood and educated him with implanted memories.

Discovering his true identity, Genis wore his father's Nega-Bands and assumed the title Legacy. He later took his father's namesake after fighting alongside the Avengers, when Monica Rambeau (Captain Marvel II) passed on her title, making him the latest Captain Marvel.
