Terrigen
Mist induced mutation resulting in a sonic
voice capable of shattering mountains to atoms, super-human strength,
agility, super-sonic flight and concussive blast focusing
sonic ability through hands. Note: The merest whisper triggers an uncontrollable disturbance of the particle electron-interaction field causing massive destruction. Fork-shaped antenna on Black Bolt's cowl enables him to channel his power in less-destructive means. |

Boltagon's parents were two of Attilan's top geneticists: Agon, head of
the ruling Council of Genetics, and Rynda, director of the Prenatal Care
Center. Subjected to the mutagenic Terrigen Mists while still an
embryo, he was born with strange powers surpassing the norm of other
Inhumans. As an infant, he demonstrated certain energy-manipulation
abilities he could not yet control, particularly a sonic force of great
destructive potential. To protect the community, he was placed
inside a soundproof chamber and forced to wear an energy-harnessing suit
until reaching maturity. A month after being awarded his freedom, Boltagon discovered his younger brother Maximus was conspiring a treacherous pact with emissaries of the alien Kree. Attempting to stop the Kree ship from escaping, he used the forbidden power of his quasi-sonic voice to knock the craft out of the sky. The vessel crashed into Attilan's parliament building, killing several key members of the Council of Genetics - including Boltagon's parents. The reverberations of his shout damaged Maximus brain affected his sanity and suppressing his nascent mental abilities, rendering him powerless. Despite his silent protest, Boltagon was obligated to accept the mantel of leadership of Attilan as the Inhuman sovereign Black Bolt. |
