Origin
Silver-Age: Born to King Voxv of Orando, Projectra's grandmother, Hagga, chose Projectra as heir to the throne.

As part of the princesses birthright Hagga bestowed upon Projectra the power of illusion.  As the young princess matured, King Voxv decreed his daughter should become exposed to the culture of other worlds in the United Planets in preparation for the day she becomes queen.  Due to this edict Projectra joined the Legion of Super-Heroes as Sensor Girl.

Modern-Age: The post zero-hour Sensor is also a princess from the planet Orando, but has a different name and is physically a serpent.  Her abilities to cast illusions and block the senses of others are common to her race.
