| Origin | |
| The
eldest son of the Olympian Titan Chronos. Fearing he would be dethroned
by his offspring, as he did his father Ouranos, Chronos imprisoned Pluto
and his siblings within Tartarus, the darkest section of Hades. Appalled, the children's mother Rhea gave birth to her son Zeus in secret and left him in the care of the primeval Earth goddess Gaea. The adult Zeus freed his siblings and lead a successful revolt against Chronos, imprisoning him and the Titan warriors within Tartarus. Zeus charged his brooding brother Pluto with the duty of warden over Chronos and the Titans, a task which he relished as the master of Hades. |
