| What Happened | |
| Solovar,
the wise and benevolent ruler of Gorilla City, realizes his subjects can
no longer use their advanced science to hide from the human world.
Believing the world's ecological and political problems can't be solved by
simply ignoring them, Solovar opens his city's borders to the world and
request membership in the United Nations. While in the United States, Solovar is assassinated by a lethal car bomb. A mysterious group calling itself the "Human Supremacy Movement" claims credit for the act of terrorism, but in truth the assassination is a ruse concocted by the "Simian Scarlet," a group of gorillas within Gorilla City lead by Grodd, seeking to overthrow the ruling council. Tensions between humans and gorillas rising, the Justice League is invited to Gorilla City on a diplomatic mission, only to fall victim to an ambush. In the heat of battle, the Simian Scarlet tests its new weapon, a "Gorillabomb" that transforms humans into gorillas. While the Justice League retreat to their moonbase to find a cure, Solovar's heir, Prince Ulgo, appears before the United Nations to formally declare war on the human race. Ulgo promises, there will be no bloodshed in the battle, and he detonates a Gorillabomb, transforming the United Nations assembly into gorillas. The Justice League intervenes transforming the delegates back to human, but at the cost of being able to transform themselves back to their former state until they can find another way to return to normal. Discovering the Simian Scarlet is strategically targeting several world locations, the heroes must work independently to neutralize the gorilla army, end the human-gorilla war, and find a way to return to normal. |
